APS Meals Program

Alta Public Schools Meal Program is an approved School Food Authority (SFA) in California. Currently, we provide the National School Lunch program and the Child and Adult Care Food Program to ten public K-12 schools.  We serve a diverse range of K-12 public schools that are located within communities of low socio-economic status. Many of our schools operate in “food deserts” where access to healthy food is scarce and obesity levels are high. We manage all administrative and compliance tasks, provide training and education, and oversee food service so that all students can have access to a variety of healthy food on a daily basis.

Alta Public Schools complies fully with the AB 1871 mandate.  Students at Alta Public Schools receive a nutritious breakfast and lunch meal every day of school, free of charge.  Students who participate in the Alta Public School Extended Learning program also receive a nutritious supper and/or snack meal after school. For the 21-22 school year, Alta Public Schools is pleased to announce that we have also instituted a breakfast and salad bar option for all of our students.  Our breakfast/salad bar options provide students with more access to quality fruits and vegetables.

For the 2021-2022 school year, parents will not be required to complete a Free and Reduced Lunch federal application.  Instead, parents will be asked to complete a simplified form, the Income Verification Form.  Regardless of income, all students will receive school meals free of charge. Please contact your child’s school for more information on the Income Verification Form.

About the IB

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a global leader in international education—developing inquiring, knowledgeable, confident, and caring young people. Our programmes empower school-aged students to take ownership in their own learning and help them develop future-ready skills to make a difference and thrive in a world that changes fast.

Delivering a powerful continuum of student-centric learning for students aged 3-19 years. The IB continuum of programmes are designed to develop well-rounded individuals who can respond to today’s challenges with optimism and an open mind.

For over 50 years, our four programmes provide a solid, consistent framework and the flexibility to tailor students’ education according to their culture and context.

IB programmes enable teachers to develop resilient, self-motivated young people who have the knowledge, skills, and sense of purpose they need to thrive throughout their lives and contribute to making the world a better place.
